Frequently asked questions

1. Why should I do my LCQ online?

A lot of people who work in hospitality don't always have time to attend a LCQ class. They also may need some time to learn the concepts and terms that go with the course. The GETLCQ online LCQ can be completed in your own time - with a month and a half to complete.

2. Is the quality of the course as good as going to a class?

We have been delivering the LCQ for over 15 years. The course and assessment has been pre moderated by Service IQ - these are the people who issue the LCQ Certificate. We have developed the course to provide you with the most up to date information in a format that is easy to follow. We have spent a lot of time perfecting the way it has been set up.

3. How long will it take to do the course?

This very much depends on the amount of prior industry knowledge you have. Applicants for a Manager's Certificate are generally required to have had at least six months’ experience working on licensed premises.
You will be surprised by how much you already know when you take the course.
Our course takes you through 9 lessons and 1 online assessment. Each lesson contains a quiz at the end and you must answer all questions to unlock the next lesson. Once you have successfully unlocked all 9 lessons you will be able to access the final assessment. You will need to complete the final assessment before we can inform you of your final result.
We allow 45 days for you to do the course although it will not take nearly that long. At the end of this time your login will expire and you will have to pay to do the course again regardless of how far along you are. We will let you know closer to the time if you are nearing the end of the expiry date.

4. Can't anyone just fill it out?

Your course registration provides us with your personal details. To get someone else to do the LCQ for you is a fraudulent act.
The LCQ is compliance based training and if you don’t know what you are doing, or what you are talking about, you could potentially break the law and be facing fines.

You may be called by one of our staff and asked questions about the course, this is to verify that you did the course yourself and have a good overall knowledge of the LCQ.
Therefore, when you fill in the assessment you are not to discuss your answers with anyone else, this includes other candidates, workmates or friends. When you complete the enrolment process you are asked to confirm that you have read and understood the Learner Handbook. If you are found to have copied someone else’s work or discussed your answers with someone you will be considered guilty of plagiarism and will be removed from the LCQ learning platform, pending official judgement from the Academic Manager.
Remember- when you apply for your Manager's Certificate you will have a meeting with a licensing inspector who will ask you relevant questions about the LCQ. It will become obvious pretty quickly that you do not know you stuff if you haven't done the course yourself.
