Acceptable Forms of Identification on Licensed Premises

In New Zealand, the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 sets out the acceptable forms of identification that can be used to prove age and gain entry to licensed premises. The following forms of identification are considered acceptable:

1.     New Zealand driver license - This is the most commonly accepted form of identification in New Zealand. It must be current and show a photo of the person, their full name, and their date of birth.

2.     Passport - A valid passport that includes a photo of the person, their full name, and their date of birth is also an acceptable form of identification.

3.     Kiwi Access Card - This is an 18+ photo identification card that is issued by Kiwi Access Card Solutions Ltd. It includes the person's photo, name, and date of birth.

4.     HANZ 18+ Card - This is a photo identification card that is issued by the Hotel Association of New Zealand to people who are over 18 years old. It includes the person's photo, name, and date of birth.

It's important to note that these forms of identification must be valid, not expired, and contain the required information to be accepted as proof of age. Additionally, some licensed premises may have their own policies or requirements regarding identification, so it's always a good idea to check with the venue beforehand to ensure that you have the right form of identification.
