We have been delivering and assessing the Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ) for over 22 years. We have refined the essential knowledge you need for being a successful Duty Manager. You can start your online LCQ and stop at the time that suits you. If you have prior experience and knowledge you could complete in a day. But life is busy so we give you up to 45 days to complete the LCQ.

This varies from person to person, and will depend on your experience in the industry. Most people spend about eight hours from start to finish. The great thing about the online LCQ is that you can start and stop at any time. It saves all of your work. We allow you 45 days to complete your course. If you have not completed the assessment within the timeframe your course will expire, and will need to enrol again.

When you sign up you will need to provide valid photo identification (driver’s license, passport). Sometimes we may ask of proof of address to ensure that you are residing in New Zealand when completing the course. This process helps ensure that we are able to match your identify with your NZQA Record of Learning which allows us to report your results as quickly as possible upon achievement.

The LCQ is compliance based training and you must be able to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the law when you meet with the licensing inspector to apply for your Manager's Certificate. Usually you are required to have at least 6 months work experience in a licensed premise before applying for a Manager's Certificate.
